- URL Optimization (or) Permalink:
According to Google the URL should be User-friendly, understandable & separated by –(iphan) or _(underscore) and should not be separated by other symbols.
Ex: – www.abc.com/Digital-Marketing
In the above link, the page called Digital Marketing is separated by (-).
- Meta Tags:
Meta tags are used to represent our website in Search Engine Results. There are several Meta tags used in the site, but the top three tags used for SEO are Meta Title, Meta Description, and Meta Keywords. Check the below images to understand it more clearly how meta tags are shown in the SERP.
a) Meta Title:
The title is the most important factors for a good SEO of a webpage. According to Google rules, the title should not be more than 70 or it can be between 40 to 70 Characters.
Syntax: <title> Your Page title </title>
As in the above image, if the title is more than 70 char so there u can find …..(dots) option. Then it will be hit by Google, and the position also Increased (goes down in rankings).
b) Meta Description:
According to Google rules, the description should not be more than 160 char and here we need to give the description of the webpage content.
Syntax: <meta name=”description” content=” your webpage content description ” />
Note: Based on Googles latest update, sometimes google will show up to the 300 Characters approx, but most of the time you will see the meta description of 160 Characters. If your description is more than 160 Characters, it is represented with ……(dots) at the end as shown in the above image
c) Meta Keywords:
In the early days, Meta keywords are the least important tag for a Search engine like Google. But it is an easy way to tell our important keywords to search engines. In Meta keywords, we can use up to 5 keywords.
Syntax: <meta name=” keywords” content=” Keywords 1, Keywords 2, Keywords 3, Keywords 4, Keywords 5 ” />
Note: Meta keywords will be not shown to the frontend users in the Search engine. But you can find of the Meta keywords (if they have used) in the view-source page of the website by pressing “Ctrl+U.”

In every page, to highlight the content well, we need to use heading & sub-headings & this will help the Crawlers to identify the main topics involved in the page.
- Main Heading(h1): <h1>Digital Marketing</h1>
- Sub-Heading(h2): <h2>Seo</h2>
- Anchor Linking:
Anchor Linking is a clickable link given to a text (Anchor Text), and it is also known as Hyper linking.
Example: Smartzworld (It is a clickable link with text)

- Canonical Linking:
Canonical Linking helps the crawler to identify the correct url of the website to get indexed and to avoid duplicate Urls of a website in SERP.
It happens when a website has the home page with several urls like http://www.seocutts.com/ or http://www.seocutts.com/index.html or http://seocutts.com/
The “.htacess” file is used to solve the canonicalization issue of a website.
The search engines might treat these URL as different and may divide the link juice gained by having various back-links made with any of these 3 urls. The link juice gets divided between these three urls equally. The .htacess file is created to have a single URL of the home page so that the link juice passed onto unique URL.
- Content Optimization:
According to Google, the content should not be less than 500 words and more than 2000 words and add 1 to 5 keywords in the content and make the keywords in Bold or Italic form, So the Google can Easily Identify the difference between Text & Keywords.
- Like box/Follow box & Social Share buttons:
Use the facebook like box and follow box in the website to get free likes to the Fb Page and free followers to twitter. Add social share buttons on the website, so that yours can share your content with their friends or else in other social networking sites.
Likes/follows/Share for your website page will acts as Social Signals to your website and helps to rank better in Search Engine. An example shown below:
9. Footer Optimization:
For every website, there are 3 parts like Header, Body, and Footer. In the Footer, we need to add only Address, Social Sharing Buttons and Quick menu and should not add keywords or more links, because it will be hit by Penguin Update.

a). Non-www to www (abc.com to www.abc.com)
After purchasing a website we need to assign www to our website. We can do it with the help of .htaccess file. Create a .htaccess file by using the below code in cpanel or server panel. It will helps to redirect your website from Non-www to www

c). Sitemap Submission:
A site map (or sitemap) is a list of pages of a web site accessible to crawlers or users. To generate Sitemap we use the tool called https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/. Sitemap is in two types:
- 1) Html meant for User (Designed by Programmer or Site Author)
- 2) XML meant for crawler (Can be created by using online Sitemap tool or manual programming)
